Dear Gary,

Okay, I got your backup from the 19th -- at first it seemed to have a problem in that it had some message records in it, but didn't have the "main index" record. That is, it was missing the list of messages belonging to the main index.

After a bit of checking, a suspicion I had was confirmed. You have no archives set, and thus, any messages which leave your main index disappear completely. However, you also have your rotation method set to "index" instead of "thread". This means your entire main index, when full, rotates out all at once -- in your case, this means your entire main index is removed when it gets filled up.

I think you may want the Thread rotation method instead.

For me, there are still a couple things I have to look at, though. In actuality, when your main index is removed, you shouldn't have had any messages left at all. While this has some benefits, it also shows there may be a bug lurking around somewhere.

In the meantime, you probably should go look into Thread rotation to see if it will suit your needs (or increase your archives to 1?)

Sincerely,

Brandon
