Dear Ian,

Restoring will take your latest backup (the only backup) and put it online. Since this was probably the one you made prior to the rebuild, you probably placed your corrupt database back online. Running the rebuild option is the solution.

What posts are you missing? Chances are that you lost posts which were improperly still in your forum; that is, sometimes the totals get a bit off and messages are left in the database which really should have been rotated out. The forum rebuild option restores this all to its proper state.

If you rebuild, then look at the total count of messages it probably all adds up properly in comparison with the limits set in your Index/Archive config. Keep in mind the message/thread counts as well as the index size in bytes/k. (Also take a look at the info/status.html page -- information is available from the Help page on "Special pages").
