Subject: new user has a question

if i create a message board, is there a way i can limit the amount of bad language on the board, eerrrrr.... in other words to keep the subject matter on the board clean, and relevant to the topic of the board or are these boards just like the newsgroups where it becomes a free for all where anyone can drop a cheap advertisement promoting something totally different that what the board was created to do in the first place.
