First of all, yes Blade suicide is very difficult for loved ones to deal with. People kill themselves for many different reasons, and yes some are cases of vindictive suicide in which that person is trying to punish someone else. Is this what you are saying your cousin did? What makes you think that? Anyway, for many cases it's not chickening out, it's depression or some other mental illness that convinces an individual that this is the best idea for their situation. It doesn't mean they WANT to give up, their minds can be clouded, that's what happens during mental illnesses. Your sense of reality is screwed.
Secondly, I don't know if Chel's situation included spouse abuse, but "getting help" is extremely difficult. Most battered women leave an average of 7-8 times, but that is when they are at the greatest risk of being hurt worse or even killed. Separated women are nearly 20 times more likely to be more severely hurt than women who stay. Laws and restraining orders are still not enforced as they should be, even the strongest women stay, to protect themselves and their family.
And lastly, of course you don't understand why Chel had those problems, you don't have them. You have to be more open minded, and more educated, you will learn that some things do go beyond our control. Chel is lucky that she was able to realize her condition soon enough, many are not that fortunate.
And while I understand your anger toward your deceased family member, you may want to offer a little pity as well. He may have been suffering from a mental illness and going through trauma of his own, preventing him from realizing the pain he was causing those who would mourn him.
