Distant Echo's howl ended in mid-note. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Dark Storm taking off into the forests, and something clicked in her mind, telling her he was unhappy. Usually she did not notice other's feelings too much...she was always in her own world to some extent, daydreaming, seeing the beauty in a particular flower, or feeling a cool breeze ruffling her fur. But this time she noticed how unhappy Dark Storm seemed to be. She wondered why...then reflected on the fact that she had seen no one talking to him much. But he had been a quiet wolf, and she had assumed that he enjoyed being alone, as she did. But in the back of her mind she knew this wasn't true, and had to admit that she had just forgotten he was there. Anxiously, she started to trot into the woods after him.

He had gotten ahead of her while she was thinking, so she put her nose to the ground and followed his scent. When she found him, he was asleep. He seemed so calm and at peace that she decided not to wake him, but rested nearby.

She realized with a sudden jolt how much she had missed being alone, being able to be fully herself, to the extent that was never possible around other wolves. She rolled onto her back and closed her eyes, feeling the breeze in her fur for a few moments. The air was starting to get warmer, as winter was nearing it's end. Her heart beat happily in her chest, and a golden joy surrounded her being, shining through her and in her, spilling out. She lay there for how long she knew not, feeling the peace surround her.

(OOC: Just so you will know, I feel that way when I am alone with God, worshiping him, feeling his love. Without Him, I have never felt that joy, that peace, that calm.
