I have a question rather than a comment. I hope someone can enlighten me! The prophecy said that there would be a massiah, his name will be emanuel. Why did Joseph name him Jesus?

Dear Claudia,

God named Jesus not Joseph..Mary and Joseph were obedient to God's directions concerning the birth of His Son and named Him as they were instructed by the angel of the Lord named Gabriel. Emmanuel means God with us (Matthew 1.24)..which he is. His birth name is Jeshua in Hebrew, Joshua in English, and Jesus in Greek. The name Jesus has been used throughout the centuries. Luke 1.31 should provide documentation to your question. Thanks for writing and God bless.

Emmanuel is Hebrew meaning "God is with us" as was the case when Jesus walked the earth. Joseph was commanded in
the word of God to name Christ the messiah, "Jesus"

Jesus is a NAME (Acts 4:12), NOT a man or GOD, but rather a name which is (Rev. 19:13). Religion has attached the name to ONE individual, so as to hide the Truth. Jesus is a name which we ALL must receive in order to be saved. NOT a name to take, but receive. Jesus is a process of being cleaned and is the ONLY name written in the Book! Rev. 2:17 is receiving the name, which NO man knows, not even the preachers, Matt. 11:27. Rev. 21:7 is when you receive the name. Please study and show your own self approved unto God.
