Subject: Is the Bible the literal word of God?

More and more churches today teach that the Bible is NOT the literal word of God. Instead, they say the Bible, mixed in with other texts, are simply guides which show how to live a good life, a list of ideals if you will. Almost as if to say, God only gives us hints and half truths as to what he wants from us and what is expected from us.

Here is a direct quote from a 'denoninational' churches
'what we beleive' web site here in Tampa Florida.

"Taking the bible seriously does not mean taking
it literally."

My view is that the Bible is the literal word of God. Those that proclaim otherwise (IMHO) do not know what the Bible says, grossly misunderstand it, or outright misrepresent it. I see this more and more with each passing day. Turn on any religous service on T.V. or try and logicly look at what your being fed durring next Sunday's sermon. Check and see how much of that sermon is from the Bible, and how much is simply the word of a man, telling you what to beleive.

Most sermons today consist of about ten words from the bible, followed by 2000 words from a man.

To be in ingnorance about something is one thing. To teach that ignorance to others as truth is something else all togeather.

If a church does not teach bibical truth. It is a false church. How can it be otherwise, regardless of its good motives?

Please, lets hear some other views and comments on this subject.

Thank you and may the lord bless and keep you all.

In my experience as a pastor since 1972 is ,that people or even churches who say the Bible is not the Word of God totally.
It is because they have fallen into a life of sin and they have not found the loopholes in the Word so they can continue to live that life of sin.
Therefore they find errors in the word because they are living a life in error.
The Light of the Holy Spirit is no longet there.

Shalom
