OOC My apologies about Rio. Whever shrew came from, it won't be returning.

**Already injured, sword moving the wrong direction, the rat finds herself unable to react in time, and Casey's sword sinks deep into the thigh. Crying out in pain, she knows her chances are dwindling, so with a last effort, she lunges forward, risking her precarious grip on balance, and aims her blade at Casey's stomach.**

Jale - **Snarling at having missed such an easy target, he pulls his blade free with a jerk. Taking more careful aim, he is about to send his sword through Rio's neck - and pauses in confusion. Looking down at his chest, there is an arrow sticking out. His sword does indeed fall, but his mind is elsewhere and he misses Rio entirely. He falls then, dead.**

**Unable to react to such a risky and unpredicted move Casey can only stand and watch helplessly as the blade touches her stomach. The rat however does loose her balance and falls to the ground, her blade sinking in and dragging down Casey's belly. It misses any vital organs but the otter is bleeding profusely and weaponless as the rat still has it lodged in her leg. She tries to pull it free though it seems stuck in bone.** >>Casey>>

**Grunts as the body of the rat lands over the top of him, pinning him to the ground. Wakened enough now he grapples around until his paw clenchs over his blade. At least he'll have some protection from any that try to attack him while he's helpless.** Someone 'urry up. **He grits through his teeth. >>Rio>>

*Suddenly flat on her face, the rat grunts at the painful landing. With a supreme effort, she lifts her face out the dirt with her free arm, looking up to see that she has scored a hit. By all the blood, she thinks she has mortally injured her oponent, and tries to pull her sword free, wanting to rise and fight again. Meanwhile, blood continues to pour out of her throat wound.*

**The rat's fall loosened her sword and with a supreme effort she tugs it free, grunting as the effort causes blood to pour faster from her wound. Raising her blade she puts the point of it at the rat's back and applies a small amount of pressure to let her know she's there.**

**Nods, but realising the rat can't see her she agrees. Binding the rat's paws in case she tries anything, Casey props her up against a tree.**
I'm sure yer leader will look after ye
**She laughs. Rio groans behind her and she spins around, her mirth and delight fading as she beholds her friend; bleeding to death on the ground. A faint cry escapes her lips as she runs over and lifts the small vole up. Cradling him against her chest she calls out to Kinnan.**
We're heading back to camp Kin! Rio needs healing; I'll come back as soon as I can.
**With that the lithe otter starts off at a run; her injury hampering her speed.**
Hang on lil fella, you'll be fine.
**Two tears streak down the otter's bloody face as she disappears.
