「多了一日」(約書亞的長日) 是源自美國基要派教會（原教旨主義）信徒Rimmer理邁（假稱天文科學家）的騙人新聞，現在科學界絕無人信。當時引了何止一兩句Bible，還扮科學分析引證，最終也被揭穿了。但此謠言傳到了亞洲便成了「事實」，正是耶穌人物一樣。太信神話，人也神神化化了。

難◆) 非基督徒：請問閣下有否聽聞科學家曾研究地球是少了一天? 閣下有否知道科學家沒法查明, 他們用電腦於聖經舊約找出答案?

答：少了一天是在說「約書亞的長日的故事」：也是美國基要派教會的流言。

約書亞記第十章說到約書亞停住日月「一天」。這是聖經的「死穴」，成爲非基督徒
攻擊「聖經無誤說」的一隻痛腳，基督徒解釋這段經文時也十分頭痛（有各種各樣的
說法，在此不贅）。但突然間，救星出現了，有一位美國人Harry Rimmer寫了一本書，
說有一大天文學家，他查出地球按照程式算起來，落後了２４小時，就與其基督徒同
事C.A. Trotter討論這件事。Trotter向他指出上段經文，天文學家不服氣，再行計
算。幾天後，洋洋得意地對Trotter道：

「我確信我已經證明聖經不是神的話語。因爲我核得在約書亞的時代，只短少了２３
小時又二十分鐘。聖經既錯差了這四十分鐘，就不是神的話了。」

Trotter對他說：「足下所說的有一部份是對的，但聖經有沒有說，在約書亞的時候
短少了全日的時間呢？」他們就查考聖經，看見裏頭說：「約有一日之久」！

天文學家被將一軍，當場泄氣，但更精彩的事還在後頭．．．

．．．天文學家再讀聖經，到了以賽亞書３８章，這章中神答應爲重病的希西家王延壽（諸葛亮靠自己，所以失敗了），給他一個兆頭，就是叫日影后退十度！十度正是四十分鐘！天文學家立即五體投地，大叫：「主呀！我信了！」

　　中國的福音書房當然不會放過如此「好見證」，不久就將Rimmer所著之書《The Harmony of Science and Scripture》之第八章譯成中文小冊子，叫做「科學眼光中的約書亞的長日」。序言由倪柝聲先生所寫。他說：「理邁博士是美國近今的一位著名科學家。看他爲科學考察局長的地位，就可知他對科學的知識了。」

其實Rimmer並沒有念過什麽博士學位，他有幾個名譽的學位 ScD.D.D, LL.D等，都是一些小辨模的學校贈送的。他沒有做過任何科學研究，卻創立過一個 Scientific Research Bureau。他曾在醫學院旁聽過一年，又在下列每校讀一年：

San Francisco Bible College, The Bible Institute of Los Angeles 及 Whittier College。總之，Rimmer先生並不能說是科學家，更談不上是「著名」科學家。

其次，Trotter 教授其實叫Totten，是耶魯大學軍事科學教授，他的著作《Joshua's Long Day and the Dial of Ahaz》出版於１８９０年，其中用了各種離奇的計算，又假定了神造萬物的頭一天是西元前四千年九月二十二日（星期日），而

他最後結論是「少了一日」，便決定將約書亞的長日及希西家的十度加上去！大天文

學家云云，更是子虛烏有。是故慢慢地，人們對這傳說逐漸失去興趣。

可是，野火燒不盡，春風吹又生。１９７０年間，美國有好些報紙報導謂有一位基督徒Harold Hill 先生，到處演講，說美國馬利蘭州的 Green Belt太空研究所的學者已用電腦（新科技嘛）證實宇宙中少了一日，而這日可以約書亞的長日及希西家的十度上補上了！

當年不少人便是看了台灣基要鬥士章力生先生《科學家的信仰》第九章引述 Hill先生的說法，登時五體投地，有很大的衝動走到街上，拿這事爲神作見證。但後來回心一想，有什麽程式有那麽大的力量，竟然可以計算出宇宙少了一日？於是便冷靜下來。幸好當時沒有這樣做，否則到今天也擡不起頭來焉。

原來新聞刊出後，有成千上萬的讀者寫信向Harold Hill先生及Green Belt詢問此事。

太空研究所不勝其煩，索性油印了一個標準答案：「我們對此事毫無所知」！ Harold Hill先生呢？他起先還耍太極，說證據一時找不到，最後乾脆在其所著之書《How to Live like a King's kid》中說，雖然沒有證據，但這「消息」領了很多人「歸主」，所以還是蒙神賜福的。

有人說，Hill先生熱心過頭，愛主心切；本人就覺得此類人士不擇手段，厚顔無恥焉。

類似的謠言包括達爾文晚年信主（其女兒否認，謂臨死前也不信迷信宗教）、史懷哲在非洲傳純正的福音、鋼琴家 Arthur Rubinstein信主（已經本人否認）、黑豹党前任黨魁 Eldridge Cleaver在獄中信主（已經其太太否認）等。相信將來類似的教會謠言陸續有來。

For all the scientists out there and for all the students who have a hard time convincing these people regarding the truth of the Bible . . . here's something that shows God's awesome creation and shows that He is still in control.

Did you know that the space program is busy proving that what has been called "myth" in the Bible is true? Mr. Harold Hill, President of the Curtis Engine Company in Baltimore Maryland and a consultant in the space program, relates the following development. "I think one of the most amazing things that God has for us today happened recently to our astronauts and space scientists at GreenBelt, Maryland. They were checking the position of the sun, moon, and planets out in space where they would be 100 years and 1000 years from now. We have to know this so we won't send a satellite, up and have it bump into something later on in its orbits. We have to lay out the orbits in terms of the life of the satellite, and where the planets will be so the whole thing will not bog down. They ran the computer measurement back and forth over the centuries and it came to a halt.

The computer stopped and put up a red signal, which meant that there was something wrong either with the information fed into it or with the results as compared to the standards. They called in the service department to check it out and they said, "What's wrong?" Well, they found there is a day missing in space in elapsed time. They scratched their heads and tore their hair. There was no answer.

Finally, a Christian man on the team said, "You know, one time I was in Sunday School and they talked about the sun standing still." While they didn't believe him, they didn't have an answer either, so they said, "Show us." He got a Bible and went back to the book of Joshua where they found a pretty ridiculous statement for any one with "common sense." There they found the Lord saying to Joshua, "Fear them not, I have delivered them into thy hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee." Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy and if darkness fell they would overpower them. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still!

That's right -- "The sun stood still and the moon stayed -- and hasted not to go down about a whole day!" (Joshua 10:12-13) The astronauts and scientists said, "There is the missing day!" They checked the computers going back into the time it was written and found it was close but not close enough. The elapsed time that was missing back in Joshua's day was 23 hours and 20 minutes -- not a whole day. They read the Bible and there it was "about (approximately) a day" These little words in the Bible are important, but they were still in trouble because if you cannot account for 40 minutes you'll still be in trouble 1,000 years from now. Forty minutes had to be found because it can be multiplied many times over in orbits.

As the Christian employee thought about it, he remembered somewhere in the Bible where it said the sun went BACKWARDS. The scientists told him he was out of his mind, but they got out the Book and read these words in 2 Kings that told of the following story: Hezekiah, on his deathbed, was visited by the prophet Isaiah who told him that he was not going to die. Hezekiah asked for a sign as proof. Isaiah said "Do you want the sun to go ahead 10 degrees?" Hezekiah said "It is nothing for the sun to go ahead 10 degrees, but let the shadow return backward 10 degrees." Isaiah spoke to the Lord and the Lord brought the shadow ten degrees BACKWARD!

Ten degrees is exactly 40 minutes! Twenty-three hours and 20 minutes in Joshua, plus 40 minutes in Second Kings make the missing day in the universe!"

Isn't it amazing?
