I am writing to express my concern and disgust at the attitude taken by some members of the clergy towards ex-Servicemen (such as myself) who are survivors of the atrocities seen and experienced during the Great War.

My recent experience at an inauguration ceremony (on Remembrance Sunday no less!) at Glasgow University Chapel where a so called “man of god” attempted to impute my good name by making wild accusations is a case in point. He was only shown for a trickster and charlatan thanks to the diligent attentions of acquaintances in the congregation and the auspices of the Constabulary of the city.

I suspect that his slanderous activities are not an isolated event but are in fact merely an example of a far more widespread and coordinated nefarious undertaking by parties who shall remain nameless – although they will know to whom I am referring – to undermine the true spirit of this Great Nation.

Such deplorable behaviour and despicable conspiracies shall not be tolerated by all true Englishmen – you have been warned.

Yours truly,
Captain J. Wentworth-Smythe (retired)

Thanks for a great time - a sanatorium in a hot climate so much nicer in November when the English countryside is so bleak.

Kate Collingwood

PS Please ensure that the garage continue to look after the Bentley.

Fully concur!

The lack of trees in the compound is splendid.

Subject: Rolling for Stats

Hi

Have just read over the starting character creation rules and what it suggests is that you roll for stats for your character. This is unlike other CSC style worlds as it leads to variance of the starting stats (honestly I rolled all 6's) - is this intended or have I been incredibly stupid (not the first time) and missed something?

Cheers

Dave

No, you haven't been incredibly thick.
The stats are ROLLED as opposed to determined via a points system which is why we have a character vetting system beforehand.
In Call of Cthulhu, character background and history can be deeply important; characters are balanced for play through their backgrounds, contacts and starting knowledge (as well as the occasional cool piece of kit), much as a Keeper may assess the party for a home campaign.

Since it seems to be working, we see no need to switch to a points system!

As has been posted elsewhere, if your Investigator has spectacularly bad and hopeless stats then re-rolling is permitted as long as you start again with scratch. However, everything balances out eventually....

Welcome Geoff/Jak!
Don't forget to e-mail your character for approval after creation - it'll speed things up at the Gen Con end.

Not a problem, just working out skills at the moment. I've chosen a Physics/Astronomy Professor (well, he's probably only a Doctor at the moment). Just a question, I started with Edu 11 so minimum starting age of 17, if I make my character 38 does that up my Edu to 13 or am I reading it entirely wrong?

First of all, you might want to give the idea of playing a doctoral graduate a miss if your EDU is so low....for realism you'd have at least 18. Unless of course he's one of those people who knows bugger all but bought his degree.
I won't however prevent you from playing the character providing between us we can explain his low EDU.

Yes, aging him to 38 will give you 2 extra EDU points. But I give you permission to re-roll your character stats if you wish - as long as you re-roll ALL of them.

If you want to e-mail me via the Contacts list to discuss your character, please go right ahead.
