Subject: Custodial and Non custodial obligations

I don't know if anyone else has gone through anything of this nature, but here goes.
I have been custodial parent to my son, who is now 13 for 11 yrs. His dad and I for the most part had a pretty good relationship when it came to our son and providing for him. In 11 yrs I have never asked for any modification in child supprt, even tho 2 yrs ago he made over $90,000 compared to my $22,000. Just recently we have been having an issue over the smallest of things. Our son has been in glasses since he was about 4 yrs old, I have purchased every pair up until this past 2 yrs. All school pics, haircuts, dr visits, hopsital visits, I paid for. I really didn't mind, I didn't want to deal with his dad over these things so I paid on my own. We went to court 2 yrs ago for other reasons, but child support was brought up in court and the court and my ex agreed he was in arrears over $3800. I have not seen a dime of it. Our son now needs braces, which his dad does have Dental Ins. but that is for his whole family also. (dad is remarried w/ a new baby). Out of pocket expense is $1850 and I assumed my ex would share this expense with me since it was for our son. He says since he pays Dental Ins he doens't have to pay and that I will never again see any money from him. He has also said he wants me to start getting our son's hair cut. Our son chooses to have his dad take him since he likes the way they cut it there than here, we live 2 hrs apart. I just want to know, does his helping stop w/ the Dental Ins? He does not have to cover our son, but he works for a pretty large company and his whole family is covered under the plan. There is no help w/ school fees, school clothes, nothing. I know it seems petty, but he's not hurting anyone but our son by not helping him with the braces. Just because he carries Dental Ins doesn't relinquish him from helping w/ other expenses does it??
