Time Draws Near
or
An Enemy Returns

The Call went forth, from the Lord himself,
For Souls of Brav'ry and Courage possessed.
To take on a Quest of Consequence,
With Danger to Dance, and Fear to Caress.
To answer this Challenge, from O'er the Land,
A group of Heroes arrive at the 'Glen.
A strange group were they, together by Chance,
Or Fate, some said, it had to have been.
The Bard, t'was I, a weaver of Fable;
The humor of Dras in Darkness formed;
Arlen, the shaper of Mystical Forces
Garth, of Canto, a Warrior born.
Joined by Darent; Healer, Advisor,
Olwyn, a Trickster of Gnomish Line,
And Jorth, of Dwarven Strength and Endurance.
All gathered as One, in Troubled Times.
Their Charge - to recover a Stolen Item,
An Artifact needed by the Lord of the Land,
With Darkness encroaching and Fear about,
The seven set off with Fate in Hand.
Their Goal - the Mountains, a Goblin Fortress,
They rode with Fury to save precious Time.
Well aware of the Danger in Tarrying,
Given a Fortnight, the Lord's Life on the line.
But could they have known, a Nightmare waited,
A Legend reborn, from Demon Breath?
A Dreed, a Mistress of magic Black,
Luring the Heroes to Certain Death.
The Bard, drawn, as an Artist to Beauty,
Pursued the Illusion as a Man enthralled.
The Dwarf's strong and resistant Spirit,
Saved them all from the seductive Call.
But the Magic was not O'ercome,
Two Days passed under Succubi's Spell.
The Sands flowed through the Timepiece Eternal,
Hours Lost, the Quest in Peril.
The Mountains finally loomed before them,
Their Number having increased by One.
Their Leader and Guide, a Dwarf named Jengus,
With knowledge of Battles with Goblin Spawn.
Jengus knew of the Goblin site,
Ways in and out, long thought Lost.
Under his eyes the Heroes pressed on,
But soon came the stirring of a Mighty Host.
Barracks full of Goblin scum,
Emptied like Water from a Broken Sieve,
Swarming like Ants they Found the Group,
But Battle on Battle, the Heroes still Lived.
And then, as exhaustion began to win,
A ray of Hope, some rescued Allies.
A Friend and Fighter, name of Dysan,
And wondrous Wynne, to Idus tied.
The Final Battle of Epic proportions,
The Return of the Bandit and his Court
A bitter Victory with Dysan slain,
The Item obtained, but Time growing short.
Escape from the Mountain, seemingly Bleak,
But Jengus remains for the good of the Group.
Running Eternal through Valley and Hill,
Even today he draws off the Pursuit.
The Heroes returned to Lord Myrax's Castle,
Bearing their Quest, a tired Band,
Arriving in time, treachery revealed:
The trusted Advisor, holding Evil in his hands.
And now, my friends, the tale is at End,
A Minnow in a Sea of Legend,
But never forget the Stories of Childhood,
And smile to find one with a Happy End.
