- novice tips; any in the same boat? -- dancer003, 08:24:00 06/22/05 Wed
Well, I made it to the dreaded novice in only two feis (yah), but now I am trying to get out. I only go to about two-four (if I am lucky) feis per year, so it's hard to move up. Does anyone have any tips, or is anyone else in the same boat?!?
I practice 10-12 1/2 hours at home each week, so I do practice a lot, but novice is so much more intense than beginner. The girls are amazing, and they have their steps down pat, and can do them perfectly it seems. If you miss a click, you are gone, and your steps should be fluid and precise. I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!

- Calling All Irish Dancers: Irish Dance Costume Survey -- Elizabeth Venable, 14:59:59 07/14/05 Thu
Calling All Irish Dancers: Irish Dance Costume Survey
I am a doctoral student studying Irish dance costumes and accessories. I would be very interested in getting your input, information, and opinions about Irish dance costumes that you own and that you have seen in your dancing career. All responses are sent to me for research purposes, and you can select how private or public you want the information to be. I want to hear everyone's opinions on Irish dancing costumes, so please help me out.
If you are a parent, dressmaker, or male dancer please help me by adapting the survey- I have tried to leave open options so that lots of people can participate!
http://www.diochra.com/media/feature-costumesurvey.htm
Ashe from Diochra.com has been very kind and has allowed me to host this survey on her site, which by the way is a great resource for Irish dancers, so please feel free to visit the site in addition to filling out the survey.
Thanks so much! Elizabeth Venable

- Dress Design -- RavenWallace112, 11:05:04 07/30/04 Fri
Hi! I'm a beginner dancer and I'm interested in feisanna. I've been looking around and the dresses are all very pretty but very expensive. Do any of you know of certain rules on exactly how fancy/decorative a dress has to be? Or is there anywhere to go to find that sort of info? Even any tips on that like what do judges seem to prefer? Any info will be most welcome. Thanks!

- Feis Points -- Sara, 21:02:43 04/02/04 Fri
I've heard a lot of rumors about little tid bits that judges add or take points off for. For instance: if you turn your back to him or her when your walking back to your spot in line after a dance, they don't like that. or, that you get more points for real hair instead of wigs. And, they prefer black duct tape and polished shoes. Does anyone else know any of these things? or if they're true?
