Subject: He Sounds the Same, But Looks Different

I am talking about Tom Baker, who I saw in the British program "Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased.)" Because he had--apparently--put on weight, and his hair had turned white, at least for the program, I didn't recognize him at first. It was only when I heard that magnificent voice of his, did I know who he was.

There are a number of other British actors also like that. I was thinking especially of Guy Rolfe, who I did not recognize, when I saw him in "And Now the Screaming Starts." As I don't think he's looked the same way twice in any two films he's been in.

Of course, there are British actors who are just opposite. I am thinking of Patrick Magee, who was also in "And Now the Screaming Starts," who seems to look the same in every film he has ever been in.

Of course, we Americans have actors like that, as well. I am thinking about Paul Frees, who never seems to look the same in any film he appears in, but also never seems to look the same way twice in any two photos of him. Which is why he was probably such a great voice actor.

Next week: Continued with two actors from our Amanda's "Lair of the the White Worm." Until then . . . Enjoy!
