As an audience member, it really annoys me to see people shift their weight a lot as to show that they are uncomfortable or nervous. It in turn, makes me nervous and then I am completely distracted by their speech.

Also, it annoys me when the person doesn't scan the room and acknowledge other people in the audience. It makes me feel like the message isn't important enough for certain people to know. Or if that person happens to be staring out into the audience in my direction, I then begin to feel self conscious and thus my mind is taken off of what the speaker is saying.

I do however enjoy listening to someone is so comfortable with the material and knowledge of the subject being spoken on that they seem like they are just hanging out. They appear relaxed, which in turn keeps me relaxed. Then when I am relaxed, I can definitely pay attention a lot better to what the speaker is trying to say.
