Peter Burian, editor of MSN Photos, has been kind enough to point out an announcement by Pretec (www.pretec.com) that was made at the Comdex computer show going on this week in Las Vegas. Pretec has announced they will soon have available solid-state CompactFlash cards with capacities of 1.5GB, 2GB, and 3GB. The 3GB card will only work with cameras that support FAT32, which as of right now only includes later cameras such as the new Canon EOS 1Ds, the Canon PowerShot G3, S45, and S230. However, prior cameras will for the most part be able to use the 1.5GB and/or 2GB cards. The capacity of CompactFlash cards continues to go up, and the prices are working their way down as well.
