Charlie: You've probably had your answers by now. I think your problem is one of two possible origins. One, your output expectations may be too great for your scanning resolution. Check your output to see if the following approximates the truth. To make an 8 x 10 print you need a file size at least 20MB. If that is not the case. you will get big pixels if you try to make prints from too small a file. It should work OK if your output is about 300 dpi for most prints. Second, check that your scanner program is using "bicubic" and not "nearest neighbor" scanning, because the latter is coarser.
