! The prices of good quality digital point and shoot cameras has fallen dramatically in recent months and now would be a great time to “get your feet wet” using this new technology. Although Canon, Fuji and Nikon have all announced “low cost” digital SLR bodies (approx $2000 to $2400), which take the whole range of Canon or Nikon lenses, I’d advise first trying one of the lower cost ($300 to $500) point and shoot models. This will allow you to try the technology in stages. Once you have captured the digital image and stored it on your computer, you’ll want to adjust the color and contrast with one of the many image-processing software packages available ($50 to $100). JASC Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop Elements are both popular. A very good digital photography review Web site is www.dpreview.com. Check it out!
