That voice. Koen would never forget that voice ever again. Now he understood why Ky had been to frightened when the Master had returned. If he was getting off lightly, then what was going to happen to Ky?

The pressure on his back flattened him to the floor, and the Master's heel not so accidentally ground into his hand. He felt the bones slide past each other. But, the clicking of the vampire's heels down the hallway made Koen relax.

Sitting up, he nursed his tender hand. Cradling it against his chest, Koen did something he hadn't in years. He cried. Tears of frustration, anger, fear, sadness. The came sliding out and down his pale cheeks. His initiation was complete.
