In reply to: Hayden 's message, "@->-- Go Away" on 19:31:16 12/26/06 Tue

The little shifter held the tears at bay, barely. "Yes, sir," he said, drawing his hand back. The tears started leaking out now. His hunched his shoulders, trying to hide the fact that there were salty drops of liquid pouring out of his eyes. Keir refused to rub them out, attempting to "take it like a man". Except, men don't cry. Apparently.

He shuffled his way to the door, only pausing to grasp the handle and open it into the dark hallway. There was no way that he'd admit it to anyone, but he was deathly afraid that something scary would pick him up from the hallway. At least, something scarier than what was in here. Keir was silently sobbing now, the effort in holding back the sound making his body shake. He took a moment to see if Hayden would reconsider or just make a move to throw him out.

Keir's attempts to hide his own weakness went along without success, though the vampire fledgling was making a strong point to simply ignore him now. He had slid out of the bed and to the dresser, making a show of combing his hair into place though it was nearly immaculate anyways. Despite his apparent lack of interest, Hayden's senses were keenly tuned behind him, to the shifter. He wasn't stupid enough to assume that he'd do as he was told, and he also wasn't far from physically doing him harm to get him out.

As Keir stopped in the doorway, Hayden waited a few moments to give him time, brushing out his bangs rather roughly as he did so. Nerves frayed, he spun and chucked the comb at the shifter. "I told you to leave!" He was positively shouting now, and a vampire throwing anything could make it into a rather effective projectile. Keir might be in for some bruising if he wasn't fast enough to move.

Keir heard the shout, and a moment later, felt the comb nick his shoulder as he flinched. The projectile, although off its target, was indeed quite the thing to throw. The teeth, travelling at a high velocity, raked the right side of his arm and, after a momentary pause from the pain, Keir fled. But, not before he saw the comb embedded in the wall.

Outside the room, he pulled the door quickly shut behind him. The shifter was now alone in the dark. Although he had obeyed his orders, that didn't mean he wasn't going to stay as close to the vampire as possible. Stepping slowly down the hallway, the little shifter made his way just a few feet from the door (but not before bumping into the walls plenty of times). His light amber eyes had no light to absorb, so he was left as defenseless as...well, a newborn kitten.

Reaching what he considered a safe distance from the door so that he could be alerted to any approach by the vampire and so that he could still hear if Hayden called him back, Keir sat with his back to the wall and finally let the sobs come out. He cried like a little child, rubbing his eyes and hugging his knees. He hadn't followed Hayden's orders, and thus Dorjan's orders. He'd failed. Poor kid.
