Hello Jens, Yuliya, Marc and all the other people interested in German politics,

Thank you for all those interesting comments regarding the Schroeder-Stoiber debate. As I don't have the opportunity to watch the Deutsche Welle program at home, I wasn't able to watch the "show" live. I nevertheless read articles about the current campaign in Monday's edition of "La Presse". First about the debate. They said that it was an American-style debate. Schroeder (who seems to be more comfortable with reporters than Stoiber) felt more confident at the beginning. Stoiber however gained confidence as time was flying. Surveys performed during the debate indicated that Schroeder was the best. Second, a short article in the marketing section told that new trends seem to have appeared in this campaign. The author said that politicians were campaigning all over the country in buses (we just have to think of Guido Westerwelle , leader of the FDP, and his "guidomobile") and that Schroeder and Stoiber's wives were involved in the campaign. Last, but not least, it was written in this morning's paper that the SPD has gained two points and has now as much support as the CDU. This campaign is definitely full of surprises and we'll only know what's going to happen on September 22.

Meanwhile, I wish you an happy school year (if you are going to university soon). Even if I am going to be busy during the next couple of weeks, I will definitely use a bit of my free time to follow the German electoral campaign.

Cheers,

Chloe

P.S. As I told you, I don't have Deutsche Welle at home. Does any of you know if we can watch the special election program of ARD, ZDF, RTL, SAT.1 or ProSieben live on the internet ?
