Sinistrad DiThon began his life like most normal humans do. He had a mother and a father but no brothers or sisters. His father, like most men in the small town of Ditheria, was a guard; but not just any guard. He was the highest ranking guard in Ditheria. His mother on the other hand was what most would call an opportunist. Before she had settled down with Sinistrad's father, she had spent alot of time in the town jail. It was Sinistrad's father who changed her ways. She now looks upon her past with much regret.
Enough about Sinistrad's parents! It is now time to talk of Sinistrad. While he was young, his father taught him the basics of being a guard as was tradition. Even though his father was the highest ranking guard, his pay was that of a mere commoner. In order to obtain certain items that he wanted, Sinistrad had to adopt the ways of a Rogue. After his parents death in a battle with sevral hundred Kolbolds, which he alone survived, he moved from town to town using his knowledge of a guard and a rogue to survive.
Sinistrad had done quite well up to one specific point in his life. It was the summer before the Lost War. He had ended up in a decently large city known as Olivia where he had tried to steal a pouch of gold from what appeared to be a wizard of some kind. The wizard caught him before he could even place his hands on the pouch.
The wizard then turned and faced Sinistrad with what he thought was malisement but was in reality pure and thoughtfull pity. The wizard then grabbed Sinistrads hand and smiled. He then spoke words that had a strangeness to them that Sinistrad could only begin to covet. The wizard finished speaking the strange words as the top of his staff flashed brilliantly in the early morning light.
"I am Shirow Hikoui, a Shaman of immense power! And you Sinistrad, are fortunate that it was me you attempted to steal from. I can see that you are confused right now. I can also see that you want the power that I alone possess. If you will abandon your life of thievery, I shall teach you the ways to gain such power. But....if I do this for you, you must pledge your allegience to me for all time. Well quit standing there dumbfounded boy! What is your answer?!?"
It was all Sinistrad could do to keep from screaming as he agreed to Shirow's terms and pledged his loyalty to the great Shaman. As the years passed, it turned out that Sinistrad had no abilities to call upon the divine powers such as Shirow did but indeed was able to draw upon the arcane energies instead. Shirow continued to be Sinistrads mentor and friend the best that he could. Over thirty years have passed since he began his tutelage under the great and powerfull Shaman, Shirow Hikoui.
