Subject: Rumours Surfacing in Yellowknife

With the GWHL season just over one third finished, it appears Blades GM Neil Hayes has seen enough.

"We haven't been in a playoff position all season and everytime an opportunity arises, this team does not capitalize on it" lamented Hayes.

"I tried to make some moves to shake things up without sacrificing the season, but that hasn't produced results."

Now Yellowknife media is speculating that Hayes may now be ready to sacrifice this season in order to improve his team down the road.

Names that have surfaced as perhaps being available include star goalie Olaf Kolzig, who is by no means playing poorly, but more was expected out of him. Other names include highly rated center Rod Brind'Amour, and even Yellowknife long time captain Mike Modano.

While Modano has been a longtime fan favorite in Yellowknife and was once mentioned as untouchable by Hayes, media is speculating that with this being his last year of his contract and the team not performing, Hayes may be willing to move him.

A call to Hayes' office was unanwered yesterday only adding fuel to the fire.

Could this season be the season that the Blades completely change direction? If the Blades don't start winning fast, that may be a reality.
