After only 11 games with Yellowknife, Ed Belfour is on the move again. Belfour was brought into town with high expectations given his talent level. He was supposed to assist Yellowknife's bottom feeding defense and pull the team towards a playoff spot. Instead, over the 11 game experiment, Belfour flopped. With Yellowknife, Eddie had a 4.75 GAA, an .829 save percentage and only two wins.

"For whatever reason, Eddie struggled with this club immensely" said GM Neil Hayes.
"It became apparent after the last couple games, that his style of play wasn't fitting in with our club and we decided to go another direction with our goaltending."

The other direction seems to be right back where they were at the beginning of the season. The idea in training camp was for Jose Theodore and Kevin Weekes to split time. After bringing in and moving out Olaf Kolzig and Ed Belfour, Theodore and Weekes are back to where they were at the beginning of the season.

Theodore has been given the nod and was thrown into a tough situation with his first 2 games against Halifax and Quebec, but Jose proved up to the task winning against Halifax and losing a close one against Quebec, stopping 48 out of 51 shots over both games.

The Blades shipped Belfour and struggling RWer Owen Nolan to London for Kyle Mclaren, Martin Erat, and London's 1st rounder in 2007.

"We like what Mclaren and Erat will bring to this club in a couple of seasons" remarked Hayes. "Both are excellent players with good long term potential. The 1st rounder will also hopefully translate into a player that can help this team down the road."
