(HALIFAX)-Only hours after letting it be known that defenseman Brian Leetch was no longer part of the Halifax Harpoons plans did the defenseman find himself dealt to the Toronto Trojans for defensive prospect Brooks Orpik. As part of the deal, the Harpoons sent cash to the Trojans in order to re-negotiate the last year of Leetch's deal.
"While we appreciate all of what Leetchie has done for us over the years," explained Halifax GM Stephen J. Holodinsky, "there comes a time when you need look for younger solutions. We have Chris Pronger coming back from injury and we feel he can step into Brian's old spot on the blueline. We like Orpik and feel he can develop into a Keith Carney- like defender down the road. To us this was a win-win deal"
