(HALIFAX)-No sooner has Chris Chelios arrived in Halifax than the club's GM was at it again, this time trading potential franchise defenseman Chris Pronger to the Charlottetown Islanders for a package of players and draft picks.

Coming to Halifax in the deal is fellow Olympian Robyn Regher, prospect Keith Ballard, Charlottetown's 1st round pick in 2013 and Charlottetown's 2nd tound pick in 2011.

"We've been watching Prongs skate for a while now and he looks good offensively," explained GM Stephen J. Holodinsky, "but we're not sure he will be able to defend like he once did. On our club, a defenseman has got to defend above all else."

"As for Ballard, when we dealt him away he was the price you had to pay for a first rounder, but he has blossomed since then. He's 2nd in his team in blocked shots and 4th in hits and he can skate like the wind. We had to get him back."

Does it bother Holodinsky to deal away a defenseman like Pronger?

"Not really, when a deal comes along that you like, you've got to take it. We've got some good veterans in (Keith) Carney, Chelly (Chris Chelios), (Greg) DeVries, some young guys just entering their primes in (Matthias) Ohlund, (Wade) Redden and Regher, and some youth getting ready to challenge them in (Joni) Pitkanen, (Brent) Seabrook and Ballard. We think we're in pretty good shape."
