In DiskTree direct scan mode the files are always indexed independently if they have words inside or not. PDFE only check if its a pdf document and extract some metadata fields from it.
If you have one pdf document that PDFE can not index in this mode please email, or link, it to me.

To index document content words, so you can use IndexedContents option in DBSearch scan mode, you need to use the IndexTextWords batch tool first.
