To close the internal reader do:

1º - If PreviewInGrid tool is in use disable it right clicking the button inside the splitter that separate this tool from the grid area until PreviewInGrid tool area is closed.
2º - Right click the PDFView tab to access his context menu where you find the option to close this view .

After doing that, PDFE no longer use the internal reader but Acrobat remain in system memory (probably because of performance issues) some more time. You can wait or terminate it definitively using the Windows task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del to call task manager).
