Hello everone, I do beleive that corporal punishment is neccessary for discipline. However, I feel that it is not affective if there is not proper balance in the relationship between the parent and child. If a child can only relate to there parents by their spankings, then there is a problem that suggests that the child does not have a nurturing relationship with his or her parent. If I spank my child, he would have been disciplined verberlly about the misbehavior serveral times before the corporal punishment. Kids are suppose to obey their parents and if I allow my child to consistantly disobey me then he will never learn to obey me. It does not make sense to tell a child to stop more than once, that's why he is the child and I am the parent. Parent control there child and not vice a versa. I do feel that there is a differance between parents and teachers discipling a child with corporal punishment. A teacher may like my child, but I love my child and would never do anything that is not in his best interest. A teacher on the other hand have room full of kids to care for and may not evalutate a negative situation fairly. Many teacher develope bad opinions of children that may effect the way they discipline a child. There is not a differance between a teacher and a nurse using corporal punishment. Its not a teacher place to make a child behave properly, parents should pay attention to their kids and be parents. This does not mean that a teacher shouldnt have to reinforce a child to act, but is all it should be. A nurse should not be concerned with the behavior of their patients. They should mainly be concern the health of their patients and the medical attention the patient needs.
