Hey guys! How r u all doing? I´ve been bored to death, so I re-read my X books and, tadah, I think I finally got all the Hinoto stuff I´ve written a lot about in the previous post.
Here it goes: Hinoto´s wish is to die, because she´s very old, maybe immortal by the way, since she seems to be as young as a child, but we know she´s very old and her sacrifice to be a dreamgazer may have something to do with that. As Rayearth´s princess Emerald, she can´t kill herself, so she must rely on someone to do that(Emerald called the magic knights). Why can´t she kill herself? No idea.:P
Anyway, she wanted Kamui to kill her, but when she realized that dream showed something that wouldn´t come to pass, she took the other option---the DoE´s victory. That´s why she´s killing the DoH. Pretty obvious, isn´t it? When I realized this I wanted to beat my head on the closest wall several times.XD
And why does she wish to die? Well, she resisted her evil(actually, selfish is the better word for dark hinoto) side, but after losing Saiki and Kanoe, she finally accepted the fact she can´t change fate, and gave up to her selfish side. Maybe her personality split it´s as symbolic as Emerald´s split, at the end of Rayearth´s first chapter: she had to choose between her own, selfish wish(to die, no matter what), just as Emerald(in her case the selfish wish was to let Zephyr collapse if necessary, to be with her love, Zagat). Zagat chose the selfish wish, but Emerald would feel guilty if the Zephyr people couldn´t maintain peace and order as she could(because they don´t wish for peace as fiercely as she did). So, just as Hinoto, she called for the three magic knights from another world, so then they wouldn´t know they were actually supposed to kill her--not save her--, just as Hinoto did with Kamui(I believe she´s been hiding lots of important details from him).
Emerald´s non-selfish wish was to be killed by the knoghts, since she was no longer able to pray for Zephyr(her love for Zagat´s fault). Then, a better person could be in her place and bring peace back to Zephyr. Hinoto´s non-selfish wish was to let the DoH win and humanity remain, trusting Kamui and believing he could change her fate, by killing her even though her dreams showed her that dream wouldn´t come to pass. What I can´t understand is, why the hell didn´t she just ask him to kill her? Why has she waited till a point she couldn´t control her "dark side" anymore?
Well, back to Rayearth, it is said, at the end, that "Emerald didn´t trust the people of Zephyr and the people she loved. Instead of telling them she couldn´t be responsible for their hapinnes, because she wanted to focus on Zagat, she chose death. She had the ability to change her fate, by creating a system where everyone´s hearts, not only hers, would decide Zephyr´s conditions; yet, she couldn´t trust her people." There we go: Hinoto didn´t trust Kamui. And Emerald wanted to die because she felt lonely, because only she carried the burden of praying for Zephyr("people do evil things when they´re lonely", said the girl in Tokyo Babylon 7th volume); Hinoto feels lonely as well, because she sees the future, and there is not someone she loves that can make her happy without seeing what she sees, horrible things that she knew that would happen, happening one after the other while all she can do is watch.
Her mistake, just as Emerald´s, is to forget that people that love her will be sad with her death. It doesn´t matter they are not alike her or not special to her---in Chobits, Elda wants to save Freya´s memories of her family, and find her special person, even if that means being away from her family and forgetting who she really is. In Card Captor Sakura, if Sakura can´t beat Yue, the cards and the people related to her will forget their special people and this special feeling; in Chobits, if Chii can´t be loved by Hideki even though he will never be allowed to make love to her---because her reset button is, caham, there---, all the persocons will be just regular robots, that can´t love, because if Chii fails, it means they can also fail and die of unhappiness, just as Freya.
And why must they die if they´re not corresponded? They could just care about others who like them, though not in the special way they like someone else---Freya´s family, Cleph and Ferio in Emerald´s case, Souhi, Hien and Saiki in Hinoto´s case etc.---, couldn´t they? That´s what Hikaru tells Eagle when he´s about to die to destroy Zephyr´s unfair system in a way his beloved Lantis won´t risk his life trying to do the same. She tells Eagle she likes him and wants him to live, even though she still doesn´t know much about him, and there are other people who care about him.
"I´ll kill all the dirty beings that hurt the Earth", said the DoE Kamui in X 09. All the people who "forget what´s important", even though, as Karen told him, "no one should kill anyone". The DoE Kamui, which is fully awaken, can´t deny a person´s wish. He was kind to Ebisu Frog Girl and Yuzuriha, because they really didn´t want to die. And he killed several people destroying the kekkai, because they wished to die, not because he was evil.
Hinoto ommited facts; Tokiko had lots to tell Kamui and was kidnapped because of that; there were 2 futures foreordained for Kamui before he chose, but if he can change his fate because of who he is, there must be a third option. Kamui and Fuuma are supposed to kill their opposite, no matter which team Kamui Shirow chooses. If he can change fate, he must do something that´s definitely not supposed to be done---"if someone takes Emerald´s place, there will be another tragedy; but if we can´t find a substitute, Zephyr will collapse. There must be another way", says Hikaru in Rayearth 2. And she´s found it: "it´s not fair to take all responsibility and not trust the ones we love. Zephyr must be ruled by everyone´s hearts".
Even if that means there are mean people who could wish for Zephyr´s chaos? That´s the inanswered question Clamp must answer in X, solving another part of their immense puzzle of philosophic messages for the fans.
Thoughts anyone?
