She entered the darker halls from the bright glare of outside. Her clothes filmed with a light layer of dirt. Raven hair tied back with a leather thong. There was simply too poor a soil within Weyr walls for a garden. Old Igen had tried, by accounts, but it hadn't thrived as was soon discarded during the tenure of Willmina. According to the Scrolls of the period. No Weyr since had attempted to produce its own food. Relying instead on the classic system of tithes from farmers and herdbeastmen to supply the needs of Weyr inhabitants in exchange for courier and protection duties.
Seeing her new Weyrleader finally risen, 'Trinia tried to not smile too broadly. He deserved his sleep after the furious battle to just be here.

-Basoth still sleeps.-
Issinth commented from her ledge.

'Leave him be, dearest. His rider is up now. Soon he will be as well.'
'Trinia went into the kitchen to grab a pitcher of iced klah and a mug. Not certain if he was terribly interested in cold klah right after waking up and thus would refrain from getting another mug for him.

"Ah, Weyrwoman. I'd meant to ask you about the latest order of food."
Baran chirped from his foray to the storeroom.

"Is there something of concern?"
'Trinia eyed her Head Cook. A man too little seen in the flurry of the past few days. too seldom talked with in the impending threat to PERN.

"Are you sure you wish to order this many tubers and other root crops? It seems a bit much."

'Trinia eyed the man and willed herself to stay calm.
"Baran, the Red Star has made its appearance again in our skies. Thread is not very far away. To begin storing root crops and storeroom supplies is a necessity. I'll not have our Weyr cut short on providing for the farmers and families that will come to reside inside these walls. They have never failed us. Teyjatt will not fail them."

Baran nodded.
"I'll send this order by the next brownrider. There shouldn't be a problem."

"Also, I'd like for you to begin figuring out a provision plan with our Headwoman for those who come to reside with us. This is just a plan and needn't be done immediately, but I would like it done in a month or so."

"As you wish, Weyrwoman."
Baran looked up to spy the entry of J'rasin.
"I'd imagine you are looking for food. I've set some aside for you."

He went to bring out the small platters of food before J'rasin could even lift a finger. Food set especially aside so the man wouldn't have to wait.
