It is a standard practice (ridiculous, I agree) to pay for copies of documents. The law allows that. They want to charge me 10 cents a copy (I was willing to pay that) but yes they wanted me to pay office help their hourly wage to make the copies. Since I work during the hours the office is open I am submitting one last request to the Board as to what specifically is to be copied and advising them I will NOT pay for the office help to make copies as that is illegal. You're right our assessments already pay the office salary so in a sense we are their supervisors and if I request copies part of the staffs job to do so. If records are accurate and where they are supposed to be this shouldnt be a problem. But then I think most of us know how it will turn out. I have been talking to associates in the legal profession, and they agree that there are many discrepancies and ALL property owners need to show concern.
