Assuming the box is fire-proofed (smoke machines can get
rather hot) you can pretty much use any type of conventional
water-based fogger - they'll all fit in the wooden box. However,
cheaper machines will not create continuous output - they'll
produce smoke for a while (30 secs - 1 minute) then will need to
stop to re-heat (the 'dead band' cycle). If the effect is just
needed as a one-off, then a cheap machine (like an Antari Z-80)
is fine. If the effect has to be continuous and you'd like a bit
of control over the volume of smoke being generated, you might
have to get a more expensive professional unit (Le Maitre G150,
larger Antari models, etc.) which will have continuous output.

Hope this helps,
