I offer the question, Why be
in a clan? As well, I propose the following be reasons for doing so:

Affiliation with a group of players
that:
- you enjoy playing with
- you enjoy practicing with
- share simlar ideoligies
- you enjoy competing with
- you find a measure of 'acceptance'
  from

To contribute your abilities and
skills in a team setting

To gain recognition as a member
of a known group

To have access to the benefits
that accompany the clan

Participation in clan-based activities

For some, 'bragging rights'

I'm sure there are other reasons.
These are just what come to mind as I write this post. More important than the
reasons for being involved, I think, is the character of the individual within
the group. LOYALTY,
DEDICATION and COMMITMENT
are displayed by the most worthy members of any clan (IMHO). Above all this
however, having FUN is what gets
a player to be their best as an individual and a clan member.
