Help! Our dog is a 12 year old lab/husky mix. Recently she was diagnosed with a possible slipped disk in her neck. We are treating with prednisone to reduce the swelling and she had a fetynol patch that released pain meds for 4 days. She showed improvement over a period of 5 days, and her fetynol patch was removed Sat. By last night (sunday) she was limping again an showing weakness in her left hind and fore leg, today she is pretty much immobile and appears to be in pain. I have no clue what to give her for pain, asked the vet if I could give her ibuprofen but he indicated it was contradictory to use that in combination with the prednisone. I have treated other dogs of mine with aspiren for arthritis pain, but am not sure if I should mix it with the prednisone, I am desperate to do something for her, can not stand to see her this way. She has a vet appointment on friday and I can not afford to take her in on an "emergency" visit...please help
