I am interested in the Downing part of your relative's name. My ancestor was Richard "Dick" Downing who was of the Eastern Cherokee and in 1817 applied for a reservation in N. C. rather than remove to the west Dick was born around 1764. I believe his first wife was Cecelia and his second wife was Nellie. My line comes through his daughter Margaret who married a Jackson (name unknown). They had Dorthoy who married James Moss. They had my GGGG-grandmother Serilda Moss who applied in 1906 and was rejected because her mother did not register her, however, Dick and Nellie are on the rolls until their deaths between 1852 and 1869. Locations- North Carolina and South Carolina. If you have any information on this family, it would be appreciated. Thanks, Diane
