Subject: Surname "Champion"?

 I am looking for one of my ancestors who, for many years my family has believed to be an American Indian. The name she went by was "Sleetie Champion", but after a great deal of searching, I have found no evidence of an Indian family with that surname. I believe Sleetie's birth year to be around 1860.

She married a man named Joel Green Randall and mothered two children (Jessie & Willie) who we think are twins. She gave birth at the family home in Bedias, Tx (Grimes County).

If anyone has any idea of what tribe the Champion family is from, please let me know. Thank you for your help!
