Just to let everyone know about how we went.
Game One: Rockhampton (36) dft Mulgrave (17) outdoor game where I played my reserve players in an effort to keep top age players fresh for a T.O.N. game. Remember Rocky are not part of TON and are just an extra game that counts for no points in the final outcome. Game Two: Mulgrave (56) dft Cairns Marlins (52) in a scrappy game. We won but only just. Richard Girle top scored with 23 pts. Game Three. Mulgrave (47) dft Townsville Lightning (21) in another game where I played my second group. They did well and it was great to give them some quality court time so there better prepared in the future. P. Donald top scored with 13 pts however S. GLANVILLEs 10 pts was also a highlite. Game Four: Mulgrave 57) dft Mackay Meteors (36) another game that gave me the opportunity to rest the top age players to be ready for the T/ville Heat game next. Great effort from everyone. Kris JOHNSTONE top scored with 33 pts. Game Five was meant to be Mulgrave vs Townsville Heat but a decision was made to reschedule this game for TON at Townsville later this year. They had us rostered (1 vs 2) outdoors and it rain and it wasn't worth risking serious injury to our players. Finally remember that this team is coached by Hassan and our preparation hasn't been overly good. Secondly, Kris Johnstone was seriously ill all weekend with the flu, while Pat DONALD also suffered a head ache coming into the match with Mackay, Richard Girle has only trained with the squad probably twice (although this will now change). All in all we were about as bad as we could get but played with pride and smarts. A credit to all the players involved. You all should be extremely proud of them up there because the odds were stacked against us. Hopefully with the new training program in place they will be much better and more effective in Cairns. See you all there.
