Subject: Injury update

On Monday, Tice held his weekly press conference and announced that quarterback Daunte Culpepper has three transverse process fractures in his lower back—an injury confirmed by today's MRI. Tice added that Culpepper would be listed as doubtful for this week's game against the 49ers. He will attempt to practice on Friday, and if he can throw, he'll have a chance to play.
Asked how long a transverse process fracture typically sidelines a player, Tice responded: "Two to six weeks, depending upon the toughness of the player." Tice concluded that since Daunte is very tough, he expects him back sooner rather than later. "It's a very painful injury, but it's certainly one you can play with," Tice said.
