Subject: Crazy Score

Looking for a little input here, stress little. In the Monday Night game (in case you didn't see it) the wonderful Brad Johnson throws and interception, during the return the Ind DB fumbles the ball and McCardell picks it up and runs it in from 55 yards out. The question is who gets the points for the TD, if anyone.

As detailed as I have tried to make the FFL constitution this type of play is not directly covered. The rule for ST/D read as follows: Note the last to next sentence.

"The Special Team/Defense "player" unlike the field player is an entire NFL team. It scores whenever any player on that NFL team returns a kickoff, punt, interception, opponents fumble or blocked punt for a touchdown. The ST/D also scores on safeties. However, ST/D are not awarded points for fake punts and fake field goals (the points will be awarded to the players that score, excluding kickers). A position player that is on your team can not receive points for scoring on a ST/D play. No trades are allowed for a position player and a ST/D.

I can argue either way on this play, however we must all remember that their was a change of possession on the play when the interception was thrown, which made TB "O" turn into their "D" for the play. Then again TB special teams or "D" was not on the field when the play began (makes it a little cloudy there). If it was a simple fumble into the end zone by a TB player and McCardell recovered it, there would be no question that he gets the points for that play.

I will have to see how the program scores it to start with then go from there. Right now I'm inclined to award the points to McCardell since TB "O" was on the field to start the play, however I'm willing to listen to other agruments and take a vote if necessary. Whatever the final ruling is it will not affect the outcome of any games, just the overall scoring for the teams involved (which where the Generals (TB st/d) and Hunters (McCardell) who were playing each other).

We could also not award the any points at all, which would be my last choice in this matter. With that all said try to respond quickly as I would like to have this resolved today before the weekly updates are made to the page tonight.

thanks
