I came to 3/1 on, or about July 30, 1969-Lt. Col. Ganey, was the relatively new CO. At the time I came to 3/1, I actually flew in with a new S-3, a "salty" Major who'd been in Saigon, just before coming back to the 1 MarDiv. I was the new Motor Transport Officer, and a "Brown Bar" to boot. I actually slept not too far from your gun pits in a hootch just off the Marden Matting LZ which looked out onto "Charlie Ridge" and Hill 65, etc. I left within a couple of weeks of Lt. Col. FM Boyd and Major Martin coming on board, as they replaced both the XO and CO in an unusual fashion, almost simultaneously. I left before the unit moved from Hill 37 to the new area north of Danang. Got lots of 35mm pictures, and some super 8 film fo the unit and the area, will share, soon as I locate enough to upload,

Ken Dixson
