Whatever happens with the alliance, I do not understand how the alliance leadership ends up as a place for gripes about other players. Think of the alliance structure being run like a business, or a military unit. If you have a problem with an employee, you need to talk to the manager of his department, and not the CEO. If the problem *IS* the manager of the department, then talk to the CEO.

I think that the alliance should not try to run like a big guild; The respective guild leaders need to take responsibility for the players in their ranks. If a guild's leadership isn't capable of keeping their players in line, then maybe then it is time for the "CEO" to get involved. This approach means that the alliance leadership needs to know in game and e-mail contacts for the GM's of each member guild, to appropriately direct complaints. Or maybe set up a "write only" message board for player gripes, that only the GM's have read access to?

Also, I think it might be a good idea to talk about alliance guidelines -- What is the process for inviting new guilds to the alliance (simple vote, 2/3 vote, anyone can do it, etc), removing a guild from the alliance, organizing alliance events? Also maybe some /as guidelines? I think /as chat is one of the biggest benefits the alliance brings, but many of my members have complained and shut it off because the signal to noise ratio is very low. I'm not talking anything strict here, I hate playing the chat police -- but there's a lot of ding! followed by 20 gratz's, or 2 people having a conversation all night long that would be more appropriate in a cg or tells.

Another cool thing for the alliance would be some alliance resources... This website/message board is a great start. Some stuff that would be nice to have online info about:
- Alliance events
- Alliance crafters?
- Message boards/suggestion box, etc
- Maps, how-to's, etc
- Guild-supplied info about each of the guilds
("charter", recruiting policies, leadership, etc)

I have the ability to host and/or develop (apache/mysql/mason) some of this stuff if need be.

I do like the idea of the Uninvited guild becoming a "Board of Directors" for the alliance with a bunch of level 1 alts as co-GM's.
