I have a Trapper 500, Tramontane, which I keep near Oban. I bought her as an ex demonstrator from Trappers in 1977. She was then named ‘Promise’ in order to correspond with the brochure slogan ‘Promise of a good life.’
She still has the original Yanmar YSB8 engine, which has had very little done to it other than a few cylinder head gaskets and valve grinds. I now need to rebuild or replace this engine. I fancy fitting a Beta 13, but I don’t think it will fit. There must be lots of Trapper 500’s which have had replacement engines fitted. I would like to get some advice from anyone who has done so. Can anyone help?
