I agree, not sure why you want to remove the skin fittings unless they are severely corroded.

As Graham says, the cone valves, which should be on the heads and the cockpit drains if they are like my old boat, can be easily maintained.

Take the retaining collar off (two hexagon headed set screws with lock nuts)

Rotate the valve cone out. This can be cleaned and greased or lapped with valve paste cleaned and greased. If they won't come out you can knock them out with a wooden drift from underneath. Being coned the free fairly easily.

The gate valve type can be replaced with ball valves, this is to be recommended as it is possible to lose the "gate" from the stock on an old valve, though this would leave it shut not open.This can be a disater for raw water cooled engines, and you can't tell by looking at a gate valve if it is open, so ball valves are recommended.

You can simply unscrew the body of the valve from the skin fitting and replace with another valve, ball or gate, that has the same thread. Gate valves were used on our boat for the heads basin, gally basins and engine raw water cooling.
