Dave originally was a throwaway, a name that Sohi could scream at in the opening Folios. During the process of writing, Dave came out of his office and I realized he wasn't just scenery. I mean, Sosh wouldn't waste that kind of rant on just *anyone*.

I knew for a while that something was up with him; he had something up his sleeve. It was only near the end of Quarto Zero that I figured it out. And in fact, I'm still a little in the dark, but I'm also still a little in the dark with Soshi. Which is as it should be.
