My typical motivation setup for my characters is that their parents were slain by . I was thinking of that, but also wanting something different.

Treasure hunting works. Most "tomb raiders" don't go into undead infested areas. We're not pansies like they are. ;)

I'll try and think up a good reason tonight, but nothing motivates people better than revenge sometimes. Just ask Zethar. ;)
