Ranged attacks ALWAYS provoke AoO from opponents that threaten you.

However, are you asking if you can melee attack the adjacent foe and ranged attack someone else?

I don't think Rapid Shot will allow this. The wording is ambiguous, but I think the spirit and intent of this feat is to let you make multiple ranged attacks per turn. From a looser reading of the rule you could argue that one could make a full attack with a sword at -2 and then quickdraw a bow and take a single attack with it -- This feels like a much more dire abuse of the feat.

Benefit: You can get one extra attack per round with a ranged weapon. The attack is at your highest base attack bonus, but each attack you make in that round (the extra one and the normal ones) takes a –2 penalty. You must use the full attack action to use this feat.

The PHB may have a more definative wording.

With daggers, however, the TWF feat can let you do just what you asked IF you start the round with a dagger in each hand (or have the Quickdraw feat).

It should be noted that to throw multiple weapons in one round they must be in hand (limited to 1/hand) or you must have the quickdraw feat.
