Yeah, I can see your points also. It's strategy. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't.

In a related way, when the Vrock were throwing explosive pearls at the Ingaran guys, they would have most likely died if Phaidon hadn't started targeting the pearls as the Vrock threw them. They were like AC30+, but Phaidon successfully knocked them back at the Vrock, damaging them instead.
