You can improve your weapons. There are at least three published books that state ways this can be done. One is in the dragon magazine, I don't remember which issue. I can look it up later. I thought the Path of the Sword also gave an option for improving your sword with xp too. I know Vincent has approved both ways of increasing one's weapons.
