Dear friends and family

We landed in Johannesburg, South Africa and it really is nothing to what I had expected it to be. It is a beautiful country with so many green hills and lovely, open people. We spent about an hour in the airport with so many things happening. One of the girls lost her ticket but we did get it recovered. Somebody handed it to the information desk where they inquired about it. From there we flew onto Durban where we had to wait for about 2 hours because the bus that would take us to the place where we are having orientation was very late, but that was alright because then we just sat there at the airport and played worship songs (to the amusement of passerbys) till we were the only people left there. We immediately fell asleep out of exhaustion when we arrived at the place called the Fig Tree which is just a regular camp place. Half of the YPDTS went with us on April 4 and the other half arrived the next night. All in all there were 120 Perth, YWAMers doing outreach here inDurban, South Africa. 66 which are the YP, there's the Geraldton DTS, the Intro to Primary Health Care and the Crossroads DTS.

Wednesday we arrived at our accomodation which is in a place called the Valley of the Thousand Hills (beautiful valley, such a magnificent view I can't describe it). we began our 24 hour Bible reading on Wednesday morning and the group that is on the 6 to 10 shift is Arlen, Josiah, Ilana and Emma. The goal is to read out and proclaim the whole Bible within the next three days. 10 to 2 is Kim, Brianna and Ben. And I am on the 2 to 6 crew with Chris and Anna. So those are am and pm shifts. We start one hour early to do worship and intercession before reading the Bible. It was so hard to stay awake and read the Bible at 2 to 6 in the morning!!! But it was awesome as we finished off Revelations on Saturday at 8 pm and had a time of worship and prayer for our region.

Tonight we go to the All Africa Bible College to do training on an Empowerment course which we will be heading up during the next four weeks.

That's all the news that I have for now. Personally, there have been some struggles for me as a co-leader but it has been great to be just serving and supporting under Arlen. FOOD is a little bit of a struggle. We've been mainly living off of peanut butter sandwiches for while! But the relationships that we have built with the locals are worth it.

Please pray for us and for our safety. We may soon be moving into an area where crime is very rampant. There is no safe place save where God's will is, though!

I love you all and miss you all very much! God bless!

In Christ,
Kristine

P.S.
I'm sorry that my time is so constricted. I will try to get to all individually the next time that I email. Much love to you all!
